Batik fabric
Batik stands out from other sorts of hand-painted fabric with its unique smudge-proof technique. Craftsmen draw patterns on cloth with candle wax, forming cleanly separated rooms to be neatly filled with many different colors. The array of favorite patterns is conceived around the general scope of Hua Hin’s nature, ranging from tropical flowers, butterflies, sea views, to marine life.
Khommapatra fabric
Woven into this cultural heritage is the threads of historical turns of event. Following King Rama VII’s abdication in favor of the constitutional monarchy regime, a former royal courtier and his wife fled to Vietnam and began a fabric business. The makeshift venture evolved into the cradle of Khommapatra fabric when the couple finally returned to Hua Hin decades later. Derived from the style of King Rama IV’s clothing fabric, Khommapatra is hand-painted cotton or silk adorned with elaborate traditional Thai patterns.
Pineapples
The marriage of the coastal climates with plenty of land in the western forest yields the lush, highest quality pineapples that can be enjoyed fresh and chilled as well as in other processed forms. Pineapple candies and biscuits filled with pineapple jam are savory local snacks visitors from overseas mustn’t miss out.
